Privacy and your school's data

You're trusting ClassKeep with notes about children. This page explains exactly what that means, in plain terms. Read it before you sign up — that's what it's for.

Hosted in the UK

ClassKeep's data is stored on servers in the United Kingdom. It doesn't leave the UK, and it isn't sent to other countries to be processed.

We know many schools ask about this first, which is why it's first here.

First names or initials only, during the pilot

While ClassKeep is in its pilot, children are identified by a first name or initials — never a full name. That's a deliberate limit, not a missing feature.

Your notes are only useful to you, in your classroom. Keeping identifiers minimal means that even in the worst case, there's very little here that could identify a child to anyone else.

Dictation never leaves your phone

When you dictate a note, the speech is turned into text on the phone itself. No audio is recorded, uploaded, or stored anywhere. The only thing that leaves your phone is the sentence you chose to keep.

Your notes are yours

Notes belong to the teacher who wrote them. Your school can't read them, other teachers can't read them, and we don't read them as a matter of course. Access by ClassKeep staff is limited to what's needed to fix something you've asked us to fix, and it's logged.

You can export or delete your notes. If you delete them, they're deleted — not archived, not kept 'just in case'.

ClassKeep is not a safeguarding system

If you have a safeguarding concern about a child, it goes in your school's safeguarding system, following your school's policy. ClassKeep is not designed, monitored, or staffed for that, and using it for safeguarding records would put children at risk.

We'd rather be blunt about this than have anyone assume otherwise.

What we collect when you join the pilot list

Your email address, and optionally the year group you teach. The year group helps us understand who's interested — it's research, not marketing. We won't email you about anything except the pilot.

We don't use advertising trackers on this site, and we don't sell or share your details with anyone.

Questions

Privacy pages are usually written to be ignored. If anything here is unclear, or you want to know something we haven't covered, ask before you sign up — it's the right instinct, and we'll answer properly.

Satisfied?

Join the pilot — or take your time. It'll still be here.
